Longridge Latte... Unforgettable

Today was a beautiful day here at Camp Longridge! No more heavy rain, and lots of great memories...
We began our day in the Old Chapel down by the lake, where Erica and Brad's group led in Morning Worship. We continued to learn more about the Story of God Mr. Dale (leader from Juniper Bay) spoke about the resurrection of Jesus. Also, the Sign Language Group (my small group- yay!) performed "Arise My Love." After that, we went to bible study with our small groups. During activity time, the sun shone brightly and the red and green teams were able to enjoy a great morning on the hill. We played Chinese Freeze Tag, Cowboy-Gorilla-Ninja, as well as other fun activities.
After lunch, the Teams had a Competition to build the best looking sandcastle to look like an ancient temple (and Green won, due to the fact that we included a sand-tomb that was empty with the stone rolled away!). Then we enjoyed a nice afternoon at the lake. In Chapel tonight, Mark spoke about the importance of realness and honesty in telling our own stories, just as we have been learning about the story of God this week. It was an incredible message, and Mark shared his own story with us. The church groups met together and after a short break, the second annual "Longridge Latte" began... There was a lot of talent displayed this evening including music, clogging, poetry, percussion, and wonderful skits. Coffee and other refreshments were sold to fulfill the 'coffeehouse' vibe. We all had a great time, with some unforgettable memories.

Now the sun has gone down for the day, and I must return to the super special Cabin One! Good Night, and God Bless!

In Christ,
Amanda

Short and Sweet

I don’t know where to begin....today was just plain fun. Here are a few highlights from the day:
*Red team got the spirit flag and rightfully deserved it
*There was a little rain but we didn’t let it get us down
*The food was good as always
*Human croquet can only be described as interesting
*Lake time was fun (except nobody wanted to swim)
*Worship totally rocked tonight
*Physically going through the life of Jesus was humbling and amazing
*And now its time for lights out
Well that's a synopsis of the day, but my words can not express the real excitement we have had at camp this week already. Longridge 2.0 rocks

in the eyes of the "mohawk boy"

I can't believe they have allowed me to post a blog entry. This new level of responsibility is exasperating. On a more serious note, believe it or not, I must say that this was no common friday at Camp Longridge. Today was the first friday of our first youth week. Like most fridays I began the day with a little vocal exercise using the lyrics to "Rise and Shine and Give God the Glory Glory." The kids find it to be rather annoying really early in the morning, but for some reason they seemed somewhat less aggitated. I believe that this week the staff has found a bond between the kids not merely as staffers, but also their friends. I actually began to miss these guys when they left today. We had our last SONRISE morning worship this morning and all of the youth were getting into the music and dancing around. As the week is summed up in a crammed morning, it feels like it is going by too fast to feel emotional, but now that they are gone it feels empty and quiet here at CLR!! Overall, the week was a great success much like any other week that God is a part of. It was amazing, in recapping the weeks events and decisions, how amazing God really is. Kids that have never met before brought together into a family. Friendships made that will last a lifetime. Most importantly, kids experiencing first hand God's love for them and His desire to see them seeing Him.

A great and wonderful, but rainy day at camp longridge!!

This morning was a great morning. Breakfast was yummy in everyone's tummy!! After the food kind of settled, we all gathered in the chapel and the morning worship was awesome. Alan Daniels' talk was very meaningful. The team talk-back time was very productive. I felt that everyone learned a lot from Mr. Daniels. We have lima bean throwing ghosts at camp or it was Jesus playing a joke on Dustin and Brad!!! Our team games today were slippery, wet and yes messy!!! Lunch was again yummy in everyone's tummy!! After lunch our wild 'n' crazy extravaganza was a work out for a few of our campers. It was a canoe tug-of-war!! This game then was suppose to lead into free time, but the clouds rolled in and rain started to poor for about 30 mins. The sun came out just in time for dinner, which I think was definitely YUMMY in EVERYONE'S TUMMY!!! The night worship was very very very good. Frank is a very knowledgeable and may I say, Young Looking for his age, man. His talks are just so awesome and TRUE!! The worship band, again played very well and tonight was one of the best nights we have played. Last but not least the final activity of the night, which was....dum roll please...dat dat dat dat dat dat...MOVIE NIGHT..YAY WAHOOOOO!!! The movie was so touching. Everyone had a good cry!!! Til' tomorrow...Have a good one!!!
