The End

It is hard to believe the summer is already over, it seems like yesterday we were all here cutting grass, raking leaves, and cleaning toilets for the first time. We still can clearly see the first bus loads of kids coming down the road, to begin the journey of the summer of 2006. Through out the summer, we have seen thousands of smiles, and heard hundreds of laughs. We have also seen God moving in incredible ways this summer with over 111 children accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior for the first time. Now the buses have gone, and the gates are locked, but we will forever keep the memories of the summer of 2006 in our hearts. Thanks church leaders for trusting us with your students. Parents thanks for giving us the opportunity to minister and spend time with your children. Thanks Campers for giving the staff the most awesome summer.

Now its time to say good by to all our family...You know the rest.

Sincerely,
Super Summer Staff 2006

Like Electrified Squirrels Chasing Food for the Winter...

Oh what an exciting day!!! Starting with some sweet pankakes, today (Wednesday) flowed like a rushing river...straight from breakfast yawns to talent show screams! After a delicious meal of golden pancakes, cereal, and bacon, the kids headed to devotion. Focusing on God first helped get them started with some good attitudes on the hill. The Red Team owned the spirit flag today, leading us up the great mound knowneth as the hill with mighty ferocious red sounds (cheers, chants, etc). CHAOS--a new game this summer was executed dynamically by the campers and staffers! Kids were able to get their team's staff leaders messy! Paint, toilet paper, flour, water, baby food, clothes, poetry, and crackers all joined in making chaos a fun time for the kids and a great photo-opp! After the day's activities, the campers headed to Bible study and Sunrise Worship celebration. One of the Bible studies focused on what we like our friends to be like, which lead into how awesome Jesus is for being our best friend and loving us more than anyone or anything! Lunch included some great french fries, chicken sandwiches, and chocolate pudding. Peanut Patch went terrifically with the campers scurrying around for points like electrified squirrels chasing food for the winter! Lake time was fantastic! Many speedy kids traveled the slide and zipline with hardly any complaint of swimmer's ear! It was night Italiano! The campers enjoyed spaghetti and lasagna for supper! During Worship, the praise band lead all to reflect on the love of Jesus through many songs. Last, but not least, "Nails" reminded us all of just how much Jesus paid to give us life! Then, Mr. Frank preached an amazing sermon using an object lesson. He related a car to many things in the Christian life. From the steering wheel being the Bible which guides us, to the brakes being our conscious and the Holy Spirit leading us on and helping us make right decisions for God, Mr. Frank spoke in a way in which the kids really could grasp the concepts and remember by relating to the automobile! After a sugar filled canteen break, the last talent show of Camp Longridge's 2006 summer began! Beautiful vocal acts as well as many heart touching and stomach chuckling skits were presented! The Orange Team reigned victoriously with a realistic enactment of different sins putting Jesus through the crucifixion and a reciting of John 3:16. All skits were awesome indeed! Many a joke was told...not many a laugh, however. I guess the campers don't always get Tyler's odd humour. The staff men did their weekly mess-fest of a skit and the girls did the "Mirror" skit for the last time this summer. The Staff version of the Mickey Mouse song triumphantly brought the last show to a close! Off went campers to their cabins like wolves in the night. Overall, today was Christ filled, action packed, sweat enchanced, and food enjoyed! We can't wait to see what tomorrow holds! LIGHTS OUT!

First Day of the Last Week

Today we began our last week of campers here at Camp Longridge. The staff rose early to work on the camp before the campers arrived. We cut grass, cleaned cabins, and set up chairs to prepare. The campers began arriving soon after lunch. We have a full house here at camp this week, almost 200 campers! After the campers unpacked in their cabins, it was lake time! We had our swim tests and then had fun swimming and diving off the diving board. Dinner was our favorite, pizza, and following dinner was Chapel. Mr. Frank shared how accepting Christ is much like accepting a gift. We must first want it (salvation), and then simply recieve it. God is also "knocking on the door of our hearts," and we must simply let Him in. God sent Camp Longridge rain tonight after chapel. Instead of our canteen break and outside game, we worked on our team skits for the talent show, and then we played Pillow Polo in the Chapel! This was a fun time for all teams. After many games between the teams, we ended with a finale game, the Girls Staff v. the Purple Team. (which is the church leaders and adults.) This was a fierce battle but the Girls Staff came out victorious! (Girls Staff never loses!) As our last Monday of the summer comes to an end and the campers are ready for bed, we can thank God for bringing us here, giving us rain, and allowing us to have fun.

Friday, July 21st

Today was the ending to a great week. We got up this morning to a great final breakfast at Camp Longridge and then off to canteen break. After that we spend a little while cleaning up our cabins and preparing to head back home. The Red team won the spirit flag for their cheering and trash pick-up, and then it was time for lunch. After lunch we had our awards ceremony where every child was given a ribbon from their cabin leader, and many received ribbons for participation in the Peanut Patch Olympics. Then we closed out with the traditional circle around the cafeteria and prayer. The week started and ended with a bang!

Blogger: Dashboard

Blogger: DashboardHey guys! We had another fun day here at Camp Longridge. We started things off after breakfast by going up to the hill to do team activities such as the three-legged race and the long throw. Then we had a mini praise and worship service. After that, we had a devotional time with our teams. We then had lunch and, afterwards, had our Peanut Patch playoffs. After this, we went back up on the hill and had a huge shaving cream fight. We then washed off in the lake during lake time. After dinner, we had our chapel service. Frank talked about different shoes that you could wear and related them all to your walk as a Christian. After chapel we had a short canteen break and then had ice cream
