Friday 27th-Last Day

Today everyone started off by having pancakes, cereal, milk and orange juice for their morning breakfast. After breakfast, all of the campers got to go to the canteen and gift shop for the last time to purchase something. Also they were able to get their money out of their account. Around 9:30, it was time for cabin clean up and pack up. All the campers packed their belongings and cleaned up their cabins. At 10:45 we had our last team activity-trash pick up. The Green, Orange, Blue and Red team were on a mission to see who could pick up the most trash! 11:15 rolled around sooner than expected and it was time for our final lunch together. Parents, leaders, campers, and staffers gathered in the chapel to eat lunch together and for our awards ceremony. All the campers received an award from their cabin leader. Also, the First Place, Second Place, and Third Place champions for each P-nut patch received an award. Robby, our activities director, handed out the camp champ award-the camper who played all of P-nut patch games throughout the week. Then, Mr. Frank awarded the Bible Drill winner for the week. We concluded our ceremony with some words from Mr. Frank, praying, and singing our theme song for the last time.

We ended our summer at Camp Longridge with an amazing week! Time flew by this summer and it is hard to believe that our summer here at Camp Longridge is over. We enjoyed having each camper here this summer and we hope to see you next year at Camp Longridge!!!

Crazy Thursday

Today was a great day here at camp. It started off another great breakfast then everyone headed off to quiet time. At 9:00 everyone headed to the chapel for the last morning praise gathering and the play off Bible drill. Everyone had a great time. Following that it as off to team rooms for Bible study with their teacher. By this time the first ropes course trip of the day was back and soon enough the next trip would leave. Finally it was time for games on the hill. There the blue team took all of the events from sack race, football throw and running. Then of course came the canoe sink. Everyone had a great time watching and cheering on their team. After a great lunch everyone headed back to their cabins to get changed for the playoffs for peanut patch, the shaving cream fight and the last afternoon at the lake. Everyone had a great time on the hill for the shaving cream fight and playing in the lake. Once everyone got cleaned up from the lake it was off to dinner. Following dinner we headed off to our last chapel service where Mr. Frank talked about the tool box of life. Volleyball championships between the teams was played during the canteen break where each team gave their best effort. Then of course Thursday night wouldn't be complete with the ice cream we all had in the dining hall. Thursday was a great day and everyone had an amazing time! Thanks for all the prayers!

Wonderful Wednesday!

We woke up yesterday morning to a bright, sunshiny day and a warm cooked meal by our wonderful kitchen crew. Then we had a quiet time with our cabins and headed off to chapel to be blessed by the praise band and have our daily bible drill with Bro. Frank. After our Sunrise Worship service, everyone headed up to their team rooms for the daily bible study which included lessons about the Holy Spirit. After morning bible study, each team headed up to the hill for a fun-filled but messy game of Chaos. All the kids I am sure, enjoyed getting all of us staff messy with chocolate syrup, icecream, and carrot baby food. Before, we knew it it was lunch time already and then we headed back to our cabins for a few minutes of rest and relaxation before the Peanut Patch Olympics and lake time. At the lake, kids spent their free time swimming, going down the new slide, taking a ride down the zip line, canoeing, and making leather crafts. After free time, we washed up for dinner and our evening chapel service, in which Bro. Frank talked about how we should keep off the seats of dishonesty, impurity, and drugs and alcohol and other seats that may harm us and our witness for Christ. After chapel, the kids headed out for a short canteen break before the annual Wednesday night talent show. At the talent show, kids enjoyed watching each team perform their skits but in the end the green team pulled it off for the last week with a skit about the ten commandments that God gave to each of us. They also enjoyed watching us staff participate in several silly and very entertaining skits. God blessed us yesterday with a safe and fun-filled Wednesday and I pray that He will bless with another great day today.

God Bless,
Lauren

Monday Experience

The last monday was one of the greatest monday's to date. The students arrived around 1pm. They started off registration with the greatest camp video ever made. It provides lots of laughs while going over a few of the camp rules. Then the campers get to move into there cabins. After that we headed to the lake for the swim test, and some time to enjoy the new slide. We had tons of fun and many memories made. After cleaning up some for dinner we meet with our teams and kicked off the week with a bean bag toss and water ballon toss. But nothing beat the 30 second cheers. Very interesting and creative cheer from ever team. The pizza dinner served by the staff and the executive Chef Cecil was amazing. Then the campers headed over to the chapel for worship service and Mr. Frank talked about the colors of salvation. Be sure to ask your kids what the colors are when they get home. We finished up monday night with some big ball volleyball and a canteen break. The rest of the week is going well. Keep reading up to see what the excitement is all about.

The Big Tuesday

Today was the first full day of camp! Praise Band in the morning chapel session was great, and so was our grits, eggs, and bacon we had for breakfast! I must say that all the teams were pretty ecstatic to be the first day! They were crazy! THE CHEERS WERE AWESOME! (and the 30 second cheer words were: riboflavin, pinestraw, and duration). Up on the hill we played the traditional camp games of pillow polo and wackyball, and again the teams cheered the whole time! Pretty amazing for the first day. Later that night chapel went very well. Praise Band played great, Preacher Frank delivered an awesome message and the kids responded great! I really hope today sets a precedent for the rest of the week!

Friday

When we got up there was a great breakfast for us. We had pancakes, bacon, and cereal. Shortly after, we had our morning devotion with Frank Shivers in the cafeteria. It was about how we need God in our lives if we want to function right as Christians. We can not do anything unless we have God with us. Then, we all helped clean the cabin were we stayed at. We made sure we had all of our belongings. An award ceremony was shortly after. The GREEN TEAM won this week! They mainly won because they worked so hard at winning every competition. All the team put up a fair fight though. Every child received a cabin award. Some received first, second, or third ribbons for different peanut patch games as well. Once that was done we all sung and danced to our theme song one last time then camp was dismissed. It was a wonderful, exciting, and fun week. We will miss all the kids. Every single one of them were very special. We had a blast teaching them about God.

Off to another great start here at camp!

Well it has been another great start to a fantastic kids week. The staff anxiously awaited this morning for the kids as we finished up our last little bit of things to complete before everyone started to arrive! Once the kids all arrive we were an all go for another great week. The kids were met by the staff and taken to team rooms to watch the registration video which was then followed by meeting back up with their church group leader to find out what cabin and team they were on. They were all anxious to find out who their staffers were in the cabins but also on their teams. Once they moved into their cabins and picked out their bunk they changed into their bathing suit to meet the lifeguards at the lake to take the swimming test. Once the swimming test was completed the slide was open and the canteen was open for them as they rode the slide, jumped off the diving board and just spent some time at the lake. Following the lake everyone headed back up to cabins to change into some dry clothes then it was off to their team tables for the first time this week. There they competed against each other in t he bean bag toss, water balloon toss and other games.
Finally it was time for dinner where it was pizza night in the dining hall along with some banana pudding! YUMMY! :) Once dinner was over everyone headed back to the cabins for a little bit so they could get to know their staff for the week. Then it was 6:15 time for our first chapel of the week. It was there Mr. Frank talked about the colors of salvation and the kids grasped it very well when he went back over the colors with them. After chapel it was off to the canteen to get a snack and play some volleyball with our teams. The teams competed against each other and then against the staff. It was great fun for all. Following that each team built a layout of camp in the sand. Each team did a great job and won a different prize for different things. Right now though as I write everyone is back in their cabins getting showers and preparing for cabin time with their staffers to go over Mr. Frank's talk again.
Today has been a great start to the first day of camp. For now though its off to the cabin to hang out with kids and eventually get some sleep!! Thanks for the prayers and continue to pray that there is continued safety and that God does a mighty work this week! G'nite!

Blessings, Kim <><
Today is the first day of our next to last week and we are way excited and have had an amazing time today. The campers arrived and went to the lake for swim test and free time. There was diving off the diving board and there was also swimming and then there was the water slide. There were many kids that enjoyed all the lake front activities. Afterwards we had supper and then went to chapel and heard an amazing sermon from Mr. Frank. We played our activity tonight and now it is almost time to say good night so until the next time.....

Friday...it came way too fast!

Wow! I cannot believe that our wonderful week came to an end so quickly!!!
We had a wonderful week and saw so many people commit their lives to God.
But on Friday, we got up for breakfast and Mr. Frank did our Quiet Time in the
dining hall then we separated into our teams and did our final team activity; to clean up our beautiful camp land. Then after that, we packed our things and cleaned our cabins. Finally, we went to the chapel for our bagged lunches and to watch a slide show from the whole week. We prayed then did our theme song one last time! Thanks for an awesome week! Remember to keep God first and He will never fail you!

Whoa!!!!!!! Wednesday!!

Is it the middle of the week already?

Wednesday started off with an early morning fishing session and a 6AM run through the Camp Longridge Ropes Challenge Course. After breakfast, we joined the Praise Band in the Chapel for another joyful, jiving praise gathering, followed by Bible study led by Alan Daniels on the importance of prayer. Alan drove the concept home by emphasizing the importance of communication in human relationships--friends, family, significant others... we spend hours talking with them!-- how much more time should we then spend talking with God!

After a canteen break, we all headed down to the lake for our First Annual Wet Willy Water Slide Race where the Orange Team took the prize for fastest sliders. While down there, campers sank each other in canoes to win points for their teams and of course, we couldn't go the day without the water balloon fight!

Ropes course sessions continued throughout the day as we gathered for lunch and then, free time at the lake. After free time and a chance to relax and chat at dinner, we went to the Chapel for another session with Alan, this time on the importance of Scripture Memory-- the teams will compete to see which team collectively has the most verses memorized, and results are to come!

After going to the throne of God through music, Frank preached on the importance of sexual purity, and we ended the service on our knees, praying for each other and committing to remain pure until marriage.

The final event of the evening was the world famous Camp Longridge Talent show, where individuals, groups, cabins, teams, and the staff strutted their stuff, and everyone had a blast!

It's hard to believe tomorrow is already Thursday, but so far, it's been a fantastic week for students and staff alike at the 2007 Student Camp!

God Bless!

Tuesday

We started off the day with a healthy breakfast at 8:00. Shortly afterwards, Quiet times took place. All the campers found a comfortable quiet place outside to complete the quiet time in their booklets. They also had sufficient time left over to spend in prayer to talk with God. When the quiet time was over we moved to the chapel at 9:00. In the whole day we accumulated many new things to take home with us. We learned that Even though you have heard things over and over in church, God sometimes shows us different things every single time we take it in. So, no matter the countless times we have heard something in church we need to keep our ears and our hearts open. God might just be knocking at a new door in your heart with new information you have heard before. Canteen Break was from 9:45 to 10:15. Following that was family talk back time at 10:15 to 11:00. It allowed us time to meet in our groups(blue, red, orange, and green)and continue to learn more about God and the bible. Then the crazy uproar began. It was time for Chaos. From 11:00 to 12:30 the youth had fun getting the staff messy with flour, chocolate syrup, crackers, water, and many more hard to get out of your hair things. They had a blast! When they weren't playing they were cheering. It was most definitely a competition with all the cheers. Then there was a game to see who could steal the most pins from the other team. It was kind of like capture the flag but, everyone had three pins. It was completely mad, crazy, and fun! When that was over it was time to eat. There was chocolate pudding, chicken fingers, beans, macaroni, and salad to replenish us for the energetic time at the lake. When the lake opened at 2:15 there was swimming, paddle boats, ziplineing, sliding, and just a chance to have a fantastic time under the supervision of our trained staff. At 5:00 we had dinner then cabin time with staffers. We got to know the youth more and hangout with them. I personally loved getting to know the youth more. From what I have experienced they are all very unique and special; every single one of them. Bible study was at 6:15. Following bible study was chapel then a very empowering movie. The movie taught us about faith and how we must praise God when we are up and when we are down and sustain our faith in Him. Also that we must keep growing and always remain faithful. God can do some wonderful things we just have to believe. Then lights out at 10:45. It was a wonderful, interesting, fun, and spiritual filling day.

Living in Saturday

Yesterday we woke up to a beautiful morning full of hope and excitement for the days activities. We had a warm cooked meal to give us some energy for the long day ahead and then we had an individual quiet time down by the serene lake. We had a great time in chapel with the teaching small group leading us in worship and then we broke into our small groups for bible study and a little boat building. We soon found ourselves on the hill for team activities, where we played a challenging game of slip and slide wacky ball and of course the red team won. After having our fun on the hill, we came back down for lunch and then came together in our small groups again to put some last minute touches on our boats. Each group then headed down to the lake for Camp Longridge's 1st annual Regatta. The kids had a great time watching most of the teams' boats sink but it turned out well. Following our regatta, the lake opened for free time at the lake where kids when on the new slide and the zip line. After a relaxing time at the lake we came to shower up for supper and chapel, which was a very special and moving service held at the old chapel down by the lake. The service was about the pain and suffering that our Lord Jesus Christ went through on the cross and how He lay completely dead in the grave for three days but all day on that Saturday, which we often tend to forget about or overlook. Some of the staffers bravely opened up and shared some of their secret pains with us and then Mark shared a powerful message with us about how we can go to Jesus with all our secrets, pain, and hurt because He knows exactly what we are going through and He will always be there to give us strength and hope for tomorrow. We then moved down to the lake side, where we had the opportunity to lay our own secrets at the foot of the cross. Afterwards, we moved up to the chapel to have communion with our small groups in a very sincere and peaceful service. It had been a long day but after an awesome day, everyone went to their cabins for devotion and to get some much needed rest for the next day. I thought yesterday was a very powerful one and I cannot wait to see what God had planned for us on this Resurrection Day!

God Bless,

Small Group Hug Time!

Tuesday, June 26, 2007

Today was an awesome day!! It has been so busy!! This morning after breakfast we all went to the lake for quiet time. It was so relaxing sitting on the docks and feeling a breeze blow. It was the perfect setting for a quiet time. Then we went up to chapel for a morning worship service which was led by the staff. We went to our small groups after the service. This was the first time we got to meet and have a bible study. All of the bible studies lead up to the chapel service at night. At 11:00, the small groups met at the team tables to start the crazy activities on the hill. The first game we played was the Coke relay. Each person had to fill their mouth with coke and crab crawl down the field and spit the coke in the next bottle. Red team won this game. The next game was sling-shot balloon game. Everyone got to sling a balloon into the field and the team members in the field had to pop the water balloon on them to win points. I really enjoyed the games. After the activities on the hill, we had lunch. After lunch we had small group time. This time was for each small group to work on activities in their interest. Then at 2:15, we went to the lake for more activities. We played volleyball with Roberta and then everyone got to swim and enjoy the lake activities. After supper we had Prep for Worship time. Each team had to act out the parable of the lost son in the view of the younger son and the older son. The chapel service was from Luke 15: 11-13. After chapel was the activity we all had been waiting for, Longridge Latte. We had coffee, cookies, and pastries. Some of the staff members perform their talents along with the campers. At the end of the show each team had a skit to perform. Blue team featured the last scene from Titanic and the red team did the last scene from Rockie. This was hilarious!! I have enjoyed the day and now it is time for bed!! Kayce
