Blogger: Dashboard

Blogger: Dashboard Hello again parents! Today has been another exciting day at Camp Longridge. We started off the day after breakfast with some individual quiet time and then had our morning chapel down by the lake in the old chapel. we moved on to team activities (Human Croquet-ask your kids about it) and had lunch. After that we had our small group time and talked about Peter and Cornelius. Then we had lake time until 4. We had dinner at 5 and finished working on our small group tables afterwards. Chapel was incredible! Mark talked about Peter and Cornelius and how we should bring the "outsiders" of our lives in. After that we had a scavenger hunt with our teams. I just have to say that 2.0 has been one of the most intense and one of the greatest camps that I have ever been a part of. I am sure that your kids have been blessed by attending this week and we as a staff have been hugely blessed by being able to make a difference in their lives.

Wonderful Wednesday at 2.0

A few of the campers started the morning out right with our sunrise yoga/ stretching group on the dock. The peaceful lake was a great start to a day that only got better. Of course the guys came up and fished before breakfast, and from what I heard some nice size fish were caught. Our quiet time was intimate way to begin our day walking with the Lord. From our quiet time we went on to our morning chapel service where a powerful skit about showing others the way was performed by one of the small groups. After a short break we went off into our small goups to discuss what we had learned further. In the small group setting everyone was able to share what they were getting out of the lesson and have a chance to have a say. Team activities on the field involved an exciting relay between the teams. Each team was given a puzzle which they had to put together... but we added a few tiwists to make things interesting. Each youth had to sack race to get a puzzle piece for their team and then hand it to their blind folded leader. They then had to tell the leader where the puzzle piece went. After that puzzling game we played floating wacky ball with flippers. Each batter had to put on one swim flipper, hit the ball, and then run to the base. As if that werent enough the bases could be moved at any point in the game and all batters on the base had to move as well. Of course in wacky ball all balls are fair, as long as there is ball to bat contact, so the outfielders had their work cut out for them as well. Lunch was a nice cool down after the field activities. Small group time was a blast as each small group worked on their table for Thursdays service. Once small group wound down everyone headed down to the lake for our lake relay between the teams. The zip line, slide, diving board, canoes, and even the basketball court were used as check points throughout the lake front relay. The Orange team took home the win, with only a second to spare. After such a jam packed day of activities the youth got a chance to chill out with their friends at the lake and try out for Longridge Latte. After dinner everyone got a much needed break to just lay down and soak in everything that has gone on up until this point. Once everyone was rejuvinated we headed over to the chapel to begin our nightly service. The service ran a little differently tonight as we all started off on our won, then moved into our small groups for discussion, and ended up worshiping our Lord with our teams. We all met back in the chapel as a whole to finish out the service. The dance small group performed an interpretive dance to open up, and then Mark began his sermon. The night ended with a communion at the cross among the church groups. After another short canteen break we all headed back to the chapel for Longridge Latte. Some of the youth sang, others danced, and some read personal poetry. As the night came to a close you could feel us growing closer as a family under Him.

Full day of 2.0

This morning started out slow since, we had no good streching with "Yoga with Meg" at the dock. The morning chapel service, that was designed by a small group of some of the campers, went perfectly. Also, God allowed the rain to stop just intime to enjoy the rest of the day. There was a scavenger hunt all around the camp that involved belly flops into the lake, crawling through mud, "picking-up" Amanda, yoga with Patrick, and several other interesting yet fun things. All the campers met with their small groups to hike, play flag football, do arts, and crafts, take photos, sing, etc. Chapel service was a very hands on and an inviting service. There were several Center of Convergence stations located all around the chapel that the youth could go and pick from. They could artisticly express justice, pray for the hurt, apology to the orphans and widows, and all the while we could feel God presence everywhere. After chapel the youth were able to be a part of our outdoor movie night, which was Crime of the Age up ontop of the hill. As all the tired youth are headed back to their cabins to get ready for bed we have one question for you..."Do you like...carrots?"

2.0 style this week....

The week has started off with a bang! The youth are energized as well as the staff. Once everyone arrived we had some fun down at the lake with some free time followed by some amazing synchronized swimming! It was great! Then it was off to dinner where we ate a great meal to give us plenty of energy for the evening activities! The night started off with the students meeting in their small groups that they signed up for at registration. They vary from fishing, arts and crafts, sing language to flag football. So its going to make for some fun times this week. After small group time the students went to their team rooms where they made a video about a piece of scripture that was used during the worship service tonight! It was great. The time we spent in chapel was amazing. Mark challenged us by reading some scripture out of Luke where it talks about Levi the tax collector. We looked at that story and tried to place ourselves in it whether we were Levi, a Pharisee or an onlooker. When it came time for invitation they went to a station that was either Levi, a Pharisee or an onlooker and were challenged there by the staff about what they learned. It was a great time not only for the students but for the staff as well. Then it was off to the lake for our evening activity where we had a bonfire by the lake and roasted some marshmellows and sang songs around the fire! It was lots of fun and a great way to start off the week! So for now day one has come to an end and the students are getting ready to hit the sack for another fun filled day here at Camp Longridge! Thanks for the prayers that have already been lifted up for this week and continue to pray for your student as well as the staff and leaders here this week!
God Bless,
Kim
