Living in Saturday
Yesterday we woke up to a beautiful morning full of hope and excitement for the days activities. We had a warm cooked meal to give us some energy for the long day ahead and then we had an individual quiet time down by the serene lake. We had a great time in chapel with the teaching small group leading us in worship and then we broke into our small groups for bible study and a little boat building. We soon found ourselves on the hill for team activities, where we played a challenging game of slip and slide wacky ball and of course the red team won. After having our fun on the hill, we came back down for lunch and then came together in our small groups again to put some last minute touches on our boats. Each group then headed down to the lake for Camp Longridge's 1st annual Regatta. The kids had a great time watching most of the teams' boats sink but it turned out well. Following our regatta, the lake opened for free time at the lake where kids when on the new slide and the zip line. After a relaxing time at the lake we came to shower up for supper and chapel, which was a very special and moving service held at the old chapel down by the lake. The service was about the pain and suffering that our Lord Jesus Christ went through on the cross and how He lay completely dead in the grave for three days but all day on that Saturday, which we often tend to forget about or overlook. Some of the staffers bravely opened up and shared some of their secret pains with us and then Mark shared a powerful message with us about how we can go to Jesus with all our secrets, pain, and hurt because He knows exactly what we are going through and He will always be there to give us strength and hope for tomorrow. We then moved down to the lake side, where we had the opportunity to lay our own secrets at the foot of the cross. Afterwards, we moved up to the chapel to have communion with our small groups in a very sincere and peaceful service. It had been a long day but after an awesome day, everyone went to their cabins for devotion and to get some much needed rest for the next day. I thought yesterday was a very powerful one and I cannot wait to see what God had planned for us on this Resurrection Day!

Today was an awesome day!! It has been so busy!! This morning after breakfast we all went to the lake for quiet time. It was so relaxing sitting on the docks and feeling a breeze blow. It was the perfect setting for a quiet time. Then we went up to chapel for a morning worship service which was led by the staff. We went to our small groups after the service. This was the first time we got to meet and have a bible study. All of the bible studies lead up to the chapel service at night. At 11:00, the small groups met at the team tables to start the crazy activities on the hill. The first game we played was the Coke relay. Each person had to fill their mouth with coke and crab crawl down the field and spit the coke in the next bottle. Red team won this game. The next game was sling-shot balloon game. Everyone got to sling a balloon into the field and the team members in the field had to pop the water balloon on them to win points. I really enjoyed the games. After the activities on the hill, we had lunch. After lunch we had small group time. This time was for each small group to work on activities in their interest. Then at 2:15, we went to the lake for more activities. We played volleyball with Roberta and then everyone got to swim and enjoy the lake activities. After supper we had Prep for Worship time. Each team had to act out the parable of the lost son in the view of the younger son and the older son. The chapel service was from Luke 15: 11-13. After chapel was the activity we all had been waiting for, Longridge Latte. We had coffee, cookies, and pastries. Some of the staff members perform their talents along with the campers. At the end of the show each team had a skit to perform. Blue team featured the last scene from Titanic and the red team did the last scene from Rockie. This was hilarious!! I have enjoyed the day and now it is time for bed!! Kayce

A Monday Full of Suprises
Today was a great start to the week. It started off by heading to the lake for a while to go down the new slide, take the swim test and just getting to hang out and get to know everyone. At 4:15 once everyone was out of the bathing suits it was back down to the lake for the opening ceremony where a torch was brought down and went through different challenges with the staff. Following all of the challenges of being swam out in the lake, being unicycled down the dock and taking a ride down the zipline it finally lit the number two that was floating out in the boat. It was a great way to start off the week. Following a great dinner everyone found out what small group they were in and headed to spend some time getting to know their group. Then it was off to team rooms where the students help prepare for worship...following that it was off to the canteen for a break. Finally chapel time had arrived, we all headed to a chapel where we were challenged and took a look at our own lives and applied it to the scripture we read from which was about the bleeding woman in Mark. The night finished off with a great time at the lake by the bonfire where we roasted marshmellows and played some games with our teams. Today was a great day had by all. I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow and how God is going to teach and use us. Continue to pray for the students and for God to speak to them and challenge them!

Today has been a very long day but a productive one. This morning the campers had an early start. After breakfast, the teams did trash pick up and then off to the cabins to clean. I know they were all messy!! Once the buses were packed, we had lunch and the awards program. It was sad to see everyone go, but that wasn't it for the staff. We started cleaning the lodge and getting ready for 2.0. We went to dinner and made our weekly Wal-mart trip. Mark had a lot of activities and assignments for us when we got back. I am very excited about 2.0. We have put a lot of work into this up coming week. Now at 1:00 AM, I am off to bed for an early start in the morning. Goodnight!! Kayce

Today was a really fun day! We first started off at the dining hall singing our Thursday morning song with Mr. Frank and Scott. We had breakfast, a quiet time, and then we went into the chapel for worship. During the worship the kids were so excited!! After worship, each team went to their team rooms and had a Bible study. We had a canteen break and then went back to Bible study. Then it was off to team tables to cheer our hearts out! The Purple team (the church leaders) won the spirit flag today! At 11:00 we went on the hill and played a bunch of games such as: the football toss, three-legged race, and the sack race. After playing all of the games everyone went down to the lake and 4 campers from each team participated in the canoe sink! The red team won!! At 12:30 we went to lunch and after lunch we had the P-Nut patch play-offs! At 2:15 the kids' excitement grew even larger! They started buying shaving cream for the shaving cream fight!! From 2:45 to 3:15 the kids, staffers, and leaders had a huge shaving cream fight!! It was a lot of fun to see everyone with shaving creams all over them! Right after the shaving cream fight we went straight to the lake to wash off. During lake time there were many things the campers could do! Kids could go down the new slide called "Wet Willy", go canoeing, jump off the diving board, and go down the zip line! Also, throughout the day, many kids went on the Ropes Course! After the lake we got ready, went to supper, and then went to chapel for our last service. The kids were pumped up and sang to all the songs and then listened to Mr. Frank's message. After the message each church broke off into groups and prayed together. Then the staffers lined up at the front of the stage and hugged each camper goodbye. Next, we all went to canteen break and played volleyball and just had a good time! Mr. Frank and Scott had a big surprise for the kids! We had homemade ice cream! It was yummy! Around 9:00 we went to our cabins and let the campers stay up later for their last night at Camp Longridge. We all had a lot of fun today!!!

Hump day!
Today is wednesday and this week is officially half way over! We are over the hump and the rest of the week is going to fly by! The week thus far has been flying by fast enough as it is, but now the talent show (which was a great success with excellent host and performances) is over and the kids have finally realized, "HEY! Tommorrow is my last full day of camp! I'm going to have the most fun possible!" It was so awesome today as we played CHAOS, the kids really got a kick out of getting the team leaders as messy as they could possibly get! It was totally worth getting that nasty and smelly just to see them have such a good time. Except for the baby food ( unfortunately butternut squash, carrotts and peas were on the menu this particular wednesday!) that part was totally gross. I had ropes course in the early morning and the afternoon sessions today. Both went extremely well and only one person all day refused to go down the swing. The poor guy was petrified! He still did a great job though, i'm glad he made it as far as he did. I really hope tommorrow goes even better than today and i really really hope that the kids take full advantage of their last full day at camp!

Terrific Tuesday!
Wow! With a day at great at today its hard to decide what to begin talking about. Let just say the morning started off amazingly. We begin by worshiping God after breakfast in the Sunrise worship service. This weeks bible drill is off to a great start. The staffers are really having to pay close attention to see which students are finding the verses first. Thumbs up to the church leaders and parents who are teaching children how to find there way around the Bible. We began team activities after a wonderful bible study session this morning. The ORANGE team took the spirit flag for today, but the red, blue and green team were cheering louder than ever on the way up the hill for pillow polo and wacky ball today. The team activities started with some very intense games of wacky ball. Every camper was given the chance to bat atleast once and then to man the field. I believe every team gave it there best, which showed with the scores all being very close. As we finished up wacky ball we headed over to play some pillow polo. The red team was the only team to score a point during the rounds of pillow polo today. IT was an amazing day up on the hill. Every team started working on there team skits today. So we should have a very intersting talent show. I can already tell we have some really talented campers here this week. During free time today, several campers tried out the new slide. It seems to be a big hit with the campers. During the chapel service tonight Mr. Frank spoke about a handful of theology. Make sure to ask your students about the sermon from tonight. I am sure they have a lot to tell you. Well now the campers are asleep and I am off to bed myself. So have a wonderful night!

It's Monday Already!
Yup...That's right..It's Monday again! It's the third week and we got a whole set of new kids! They arrived around 12:30 and registration began. The kids then moved into their cabins and made there way to the lake. They then took their swim tests, played at the lake, and most importantly got to go on the newest and most coolest slide in the world, "The Wet Willie!" After the lake, we went back to the cabins and got cleaned up for dinner and yes..everyone takes showers!! Before we ate dinner, we met at our team tables. Each team was cheering so loud that you could us about 10 MILES away! We also did a few activities directed by our "Game Guy" Robby! Dinner (Pizza and our famous CLR banana pudding) was served! Following dinner was an awesome praise gathering by the praise band. After the music, Mr. Frank gave a life changing sermon on The Colors of Salvation! As the sermon ended for the night, we headed over to the canteen and gift shop! While that was open, we got in our teams and started the annual Big Ball Volleyball game! It was a close game between Blue and Green, but Blue ended up winning and finishing up the night, Red dominated the Orange! To end up the exciting game, all the staff, leaders, and adults played against ALL the KIDS! We won't say who won!...well...let's just say, "Staff never loses!" Finally after the games, everyone went back to the cabins for a little devotion with their cabin leader and off to sleep!
P.S.....Just think all this fun was in half of the day, so just wait til' TOMORROW with the first full day!

Friday
This Friday was a wonderful day. However, it was sad because everyone had to leave. We all woke up and went to breakfast. Shortly afterwards, Mr. Frank gave a short devotional. It was about needing God in our lives. If we don't have God then we can't function correctly as Christians. After we all packed our belongings we went to an awards ceremony. Every kid got an award from their cabin leaders. Some even got peanut patch awards depending on their achievement in the games. It was sad when everyone had to leave but, I assure you that every kid went home from a wonderful God filled week of spiritual renewal in Gods word. There were many friendships gained this week.

Wacky Wednesday
This Wednesday was packed with a lot of fun activities. The kids sat down for bible study in the morning lead by their staffer. The kids got the staff completely messy from head to toe with chocolate, shaving cream, baby food, water, and ice cream. They loved it and cheered the whole time during chaos! Peanut patch was shortly after lunch. It is an activity with many fun games like ball toss, pool, tether ball, darts, mini golf, and more. The best part of the day was the talent show! These kids have been working hard all week to prepare skits for the camp and the visiting family. Let us just say no one was disappointed. Green team won the over all best skit but, they were all pretty close. We all had an amazing day!

The Most AMAZING TUESDAY EVER!!!!
Today has been so wonderful and amazing, I do not even know when to begin. We started the morning off with some leaders heading to the ropes course arounc 6am. They had a ball. They came back full of excitement and ready to see some students go through the course. Then we headed to morning worship, where we were able to worship God through music. The kids are really starting to get the motions to the theme song and other songs. Bible study was a blast. I don't want to give away to much, but the kids have talked no stop about some of the bible study activities :). The blue team took the spirit flag for today, but not without a lot of competition. It will be a close call to see which team will win tomorrow. There was a lot of cheering and encouragement on the hill for team activities. Every team played well in pillow polo and wacky ball, I believe there were a lot of ties today on the hill. After lunch we headed out for peanut patch olympics. The video started us off, and left several kids wondering where is the peanut patch????? From my wonderful canteen seat, I saw kids lined up waiting to play several games. The competition will be close for camp champ this week. The slide, canoes, and diving board kept everyone very occupied during free time. I even saw a extreme basketball going on between some campers and staffers. I believe the campers won! After clean up we headed to dinner and then off to the chapel. In chapel Mr. Frank preached about a hand full of theology. I don't wanna give to much away, but be sure to ask the campers about their handful of theology. After a little team time to prepare skits for tomorrows talent show, we ended the night with free time at the volleyball court. It has been a jam packed, full day. Now we are off to the cabins for showers, devotions, and lights out. Be sure to check back tomorrow for pictures, and another full update on, what I am sure is to be, a great day.
Another Monday has come!
Another week of camp has begun! Monday morning the staff all anxiously awaited the second group of kids for the summer. The buses began arriving after lunch and registration started. The kids then had a great time taking swim tests and playing at the lake. The afternoon was a little interrupted by a thunderstorm, but all the campers and staffers went to their cabins a played games, colored, and got to learn names. After the storm we ate a delicious dinner of pizza and banana pudding. We then headed to chapel for the nightly service. The band was awesome and Mr. Frank spoke about the colors of salvation. After service all the teams went to their team rooms and got to play games and work on their cheers and skits. The canteen moved into the chapel because it was so wet outside and for the nightly activity, Monday became movie night. We all watched a great movie called "The Big Money Mix Up." The kids all enjoyed the movie and it taught us all a great lesson about helping others. After the movie everyone was tired and it was time to go to the cabins to get ready for bed. The first day of the week was great and everyone is ready to get the second day started!

It's Friday Already?
Even though today was a half-day at Camp Longridge, it was filled with a whole lot of excitement! We all woke up slowly, dragging a bit after the full Thursday we had yesterday, but after some breakfast, everyone was ready to get moving! First we started our day with a devotion time with Mr. Frank, then everyone headed back to their cabins to pack up and clean up. Everyone wanted to get home to their families, but no one really wanted to leave camp! Everyone had an awesome week! For our last team activity, all teams competed in the Big Trash Pick-Up, to get the grounds ready to go for the next week of camp, just waiting for us around the corner! After lunch and the Awards Ceremony, Camp Longridge said "goodbye" to our first group of campers! Thank you everyone for a fantastic week! God Bless!

Second Day of FUN!!!
Today was the second day of camp for the kids. We woke up this morning to a warm breakfast that gave us some much needed energy to start our day. Then the kids headed off to their morning quiet times with their staffers and then we met in the chapel for our Sonrise service of praise and worship to our heavenly father. Kids then spent time in bible study where they learned about what missionaries are and how they can share the love of Jesus with others. Then the action began with team activities up at the softball field. Today we played fun-filled games of wacky ball and pillow polo, where every kid cheered on their team with everything they had and gave it their all in both games. The red team ended up winning the spirit flag today. We then headed to lunch for some much needed refilling where we had hamburgers and french fries. Soon after, it was time for our first day of the Peanut Patch Olympics, where each kid had a chance to go around to different game stations such as football toss, basketball, and good mitten to try and score their team points. After the olympics, kids headed down to the lake for swimming, which gave them a chance to cool off from the day's heat and just have fun with their friends. Then it was time for supper and then the evening chapel service, where Bro. Frank talked to us about the Handful of Theology and how we should each remember these basic elements of being a Christian. Tonight was movie night for the kids, where we watched a movie called "The Big Money Mixup" which gave the kids the opportunity to wind down before they were sent to their cabins to do their nightly devotions and get some much needed rest for the excitement that God has prepared for us tomorrow. I think all the kids enjoyed spending time getting to know each other and all the new staffers today, and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for us throughout the rest of this week.
Good Night and God Bless,
Lauren
