The First Camp Monday...

Today was the first Monday that kicked off the camp season here at Camp Longridge. The staff woke up with an excitement that continued on throughout the day! The day started off with registration which allowed the kids to meet the staff and find out what cabin and team they were on for the week. After getting registered the kids headed down to the lake for the swim test where after they finished that up they had free time where the lake was open. It was cut a tad bit short because of an afternoon thunderstorm but that didn't dampen the spirits here at camp. The kids headed back to their cabins and spent some time with their staffers getting to knowt them. After a short amount of time in the cabins the weather changed to bright and sunny which is when all the kids headed up to their team tables for their first team event! During the team events the kids came up with 30 second cheers, played the beanbag toss where EVERYONE was able to have two attempts to get it in the hole which was then followed up by the ever infamous water balloon toss. Following an exciting team time it was off to dinner. There we ate pizza for dinner and had a great time of fellowship. Following that it was back to the cabin for meet your staffer where the kids were able to learn about their staffer and go over some things for the week. Before we knew it, it was time for chapel. That is when the staff did a great job of teaching the kids the motions to the theme song for this summer which is Made to Love by TobyMac. After a great time of worship which was lead by the Camp Longridge Praise Band, Frank presented a short message about the colors of salvation. After chapel was over the kids were dismissed to head to the canteen to get a snack which is also when the big ball volleyball game took place! The games were close and we will find out who comes out on top of Thursday night when the championship is held. As for now, the kids are getting showered, having cabin devotions with their staffers and getting ready for bed. Tomorrow is expected to be a great full day of camp activities here and the kids and staff are all excited. For now though this staffer is off to the cabin to hang out with the kids before bed and get some shut eye! Thanks for allowing us as a staff to spend the week with your kids! Continue to pray for open hearts and continued safety!
God Bless, Kim
